NICOLE SHOWELL, M.A., Executive Director

Ms. Showell brings, in sum, over 15 years experience in the areas of education and counseling. Having served as a high school teacher, mentor, college professor, and educational consultant and advisor to various HBCUs, she became privy to the inadequacies of the "pre-collegiate" educational system and realized the significant gap between social, emotional, and educational maturity. She has worked directly with students from various public and private schools and universities to bridge these gaps and to enhance reading comprehension, writing dexterities, critical thinking skills, self-esteem, etiquette skills, and social aptitude to name a few. Of those 15 years, she has spent over six helping to change people's behavior through counseling and providing hope to the hopeless.

Her passion to help the broken-hearted has prompted her to be a voice for her community and the nation. She has successfully implemented and managed nationwide research programs in HIV and oncology for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Ms. Showell also expanded her research efforts to span the globe in the pharmaceutical industry in 2005. Through the creation of strategic and tactical plans, she has lead several corporate task forces that promoted the advancement and awareness of health and educational issues that plague various communities. In addition, as a result of developing and implementing worldwide marketing and publicity campaigns, she served as the spokesperson for various institutions, including the pharmaceutical industry, the University of Pennsylvania and Cheyney University on numerous health and education related topics. She has presented to both lay and professional groups, including but not limited to students, adults, doctors, scientists, and health care executives, both in the US and abroad. She has been named an Honorary Guest Speaker at the International Student Athlete Academy, MD Cooperative Work Experience, Cheyney University, and the Jewish Employment and Vocational Service. Ms. Showell also serves as an expert speaker on various political topics and debuted as such at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference where she provided great insight in forums titled, Faith and Politics, and the Future of Education. She is invited to speak all over the country and presents various workshops, seminars, and lectures.

Ms. Showell received her undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine and minor in Psychology from Tennessee State University, and continued her graduate education at Harvard University and received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary in May, 2007. She is currently authoring her first book.

Ms. Showell joined People for People as the Executive Director of the HOPE Center in October, 2009. She is equipped and ready to make a positive difference in Philadelphia and the pro-life movement. The combination of her management and counseling skills are a tremendous asset and resource for HOPE and the community.
